what’s people’s experience with battery life? I have used my Pro for exactly three months to the day, when it’s warned me the batteries low (15%). I have a Tedee pro with no door handle so the pull spring is used as my main operation every time. I have a bridge, keypad pro and a door sensor with all auto-lock/Auto Unlock features enabled.
I’m mindful I’m probably pushing the battery at its worst possible use case. I’m not complaining about having to charge every 3 months, it’s no big deal at all. Considering the compact size I’m frankly quite impressed at the battery life achieved. Just curious if it sounds expected?
I have been using the Tedee Pro for 4 weeks and also use it with latch, auto unlock. It started with 65%, today it has 51% battery and I played a lot during that time. I think that when I charge it for the first time, it will last for 6 months, maybe longer.
3 months seems very short time to me. Does your Tedee have good reception or does it always search for Bluetooth, WLAN? That could be a cause or you’re a power user…?
I also think the Tedee Pro is great; it is so nice and quiet and works very reliably. Previously, I had the Nuki 4Pro and the Ultra. I always had problems with something not working, the yellow adapter broke several times and the volume…Those were really chain saws, and the neighbors would watch every time we closed to see if anything happened. And the Nuki support is terrible, you often have to wait many days for an (automatic) response.
I’m glad I bought the Tedee Pro.
I’d say Bluetooth reception to the bridge is good, I’ve no reason to believe it isn’t at least, can I see an rssi value somewhere?
I’m putting my experience down to it being worked hard every use, in my case it’s a lock and the door handle, I assume the pull-spring operation uses more battery than regular unlocking would, and we do that for every entry/exit. I thought that novelty would wear off but it’s become normal/habit (call it lazy I guess)
Re: Nuki, My door supplier strongly advised me against it as he’d experienced no end of issues. I still use the Ultion Bolt door mechanism which I’m very happy with, works perfectly with the Tedee. I’ve even managed to butcher the door contact and fit it inside the Bolt frame and use the built in door magnet.
If the door mechanism requires a lot of force, that’s an explanation. At mine everything is very smooth and well-lubricated.
I also had countless problems with both Nukis and can only warn you about them. These smart locks are praised in every report and test. I think there was a lot of money for the praise… The software is full of errors, even during the initial setup. I was surprised how quickly and easily the Tedee was installed. And it works very well, it’s so quiet. I’m no longer startled at night when it close in the evening.
I hope it lasts a long time.
