Keypad Pro goes dead

I am using the Keypad Pro for a while (since March 25) and now it is the second time, the Keypad was “dead”.
This means there was no function, no life signs, no reaction on button press or finger print sensor.

I locked the door by using the “lock key” function. So the keypad worked when I was leaving.

After taking it from the wall, disconnect it from the 12v DC power supply AND remove all batteries, reconnect it to the power supply (and reinserting the batteries) it works like nothing happened.

I checked the 12v DC power line and the batteries. The 12v power line is stable and there was no power interrupt oder something that could have caused the keypad to play dead.
The batteries are at nearly 100%, because I connected the keypad to the 12v DC from the beginning.

But it is getting very unreliable now, for that it is now the second time this happened within the 3-4 months of use.

If I luckely didn’t have the door keys in my pocket, I could have not opened the door with my fingerprint or entry code.
But if I have to take my door keys always with me (because the Keypad is unreliable), why should I use the keypad or the whole tedee Pro?

What could cause the problem?
Can the Keypad “crash” like an OS and need to reset/reboot?

best regards…

Hey, wonder if your issue got resolved? I just got a brand new keypad pro with new batteries and after a week it went dead on me just like you described. After I slid it off the back plate it started working again (did not even require to remove the batteries). Seemed very odd and unreliable. Now the whole family needs to carry the keys again :frowning:

Hello,
after contacting the support, I was advised to remove the batteries and watch the behavior of the Keypad (Pro).

Since I removed the batteries, it’s been working. But I would say that it’ll need more time to say the problem has been solved for sure.

But for now it doesn’t feel very safe or good, when leaving home without a key (but what’s supposed to with that Lock and Keypad). Now the Keypad Pro has to re-earn trust

Hello community

I’m interested in understanding what typically causes keyboard to fail, and whether these issues have been addressed in your current products. Could you explain what the main problems were and how they’ve been resolved?

This information is important for my decision about purchasing your products for my homes.

Well, the main problem was the complete failure with no life signs from the Keypad Pro - from one minute to the next. Closed the door, locked with the keypad. Coming home - keypad dead!

But it began with the DC-Power Line and the batteries. There was no real information what about leaving the batteries inserted in the keypad when connected to dc-power. The manual said so as a backup when the dc power fails, but in the end I was advised to remove the batteries when the keypad is connected to dc-power.

The DC Power Line was checked by an electrician professional, bur everything is ok. So why did the keypad stopped working? Noone could really tell.

After the advise to remove the batteries, the DC connected keypad seems to work as intended. But what about the info in the manual to leave batteries in the keypad as backup power support?

I want to trust the keypad and leave my keys at home, but the trust has to be re-earned.

And why should I take keys with me, when I have installed the tedee lock and keypad pro? Doesn‘t make sense to me …

Good afternoon, thanks for the feedback, but there is still a question, when you connected the keyboard to DC, it does not fail!?

is the co-aviation working now?
I would also like to ask the user, there is a button with a check mark on the co-aviation, does it lock the door?

Hi, the keypad should operate with the batteries inserted. Could you please reinsert all four batteries and check whether the keypad functions correctly? Please ensure that each battery is placed in the correct position, as even one incorrectly inserted battery may prevent the device from working properly.

I experiencrd exactly the same symptoms as described in the original post. In a span of a few weeks keypad twice gone into unresponsive state. It could be a coincidience but the weather on those days was colder than usual -15C. I do too have dual power setup. I tried factory reset after the first incident but it did not prevent reoccurrence.

Hi @Vadim, could you please contact us at support@tedee.com? We need to gather more details to help you with the issue.
